Adult Open Class Program

ADULT OPEN CLASS PROGRAM

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The open class dance program is geared for dancers, ages 14 and older, from novice to professional. Classes offered include beginning, intermediate, and advanced ballet. Teachers are available to assess a student's level in class and make appropriate level recommendations upon request. HBBSA does not guarantee pianists for any of its classes.

BEGINNING BALLET

Beginning ballet is the perfect way for those who are starting ballet again after many years, or those that have enough knowledge of the ballet curriculum to complete a faster moving beginning ballet class.

INTERMEDIATE BALLET

This class is designed for those who have taken at least two years of current ballet training, or completed the introductory ballet class. Emphasis in intermediate ballet is placed on developing technical strength and more advanced movement qualities.

ADVANCED BALLET

This course is for experienced adults and teens who have had at least four years of ballet training. This class is taught at a professional level and uses the full range of classical ballet technique. Please note that students wanting to wear pointe shoes may do so at their own risk in the advanced classes, and at the discretion of the instructor.

INTERMEDIATE MODERN

Intermediate Modern is an engaging, high-energy class designed to bring a deeper awareness and dimensionality to your dancing. The warm-up is based on standing barre, and accumulates over the course of the class to properly prepare the body to engage in movement across the floor. Movement phrases that are both physically and spatially challenging will be built on a foundation of breath, lyricism, and technique.

Randall Flinn is an internationally recognized modern dance educator. He had trained and coached professional dancers on many continents and for numerous dance companies. His global experience has given him the opportunities to be educated in many forms and styles of modern/comtemporary dance. His studies include the classic tecniques of Graham, Limon, Horton and Hawkins methods of modern dancing.
