Adult Open Class Program

Course Description

The open class dance program is geared for dancers, ages 14 and older, from novice to professional. Classes offered include beginning, intermediate, and advanced ballet. Teachers are available to assess a student's level in class and make appropriate level recommendations upon request.

HBBSA does not guarantee pianists for any of its classes.

Beginning Ballet

Beginning ballet is the perfect way for those who are starting ballet again after many years, or those that have enough knowledge of the ballet curriculum to complete a faster moving beginning ballet class.

Intermediate Ballet

This class is designed for those who have taken at least two years of current ballet training, or completed the introductory ballet class. Emphasis in intermediate ballet is placed on developing technical strength and more advanced movement qualities.

Advanced Ballet

This course is for experienced adults and teens who have had at least four years of ballet training. This class is taught at a professional level and uses the full range of classical ballet technique. Please note that students wanting to wear pointe shoes may do so at their own risk in the advanced classes, and at the discretion of the instructor.

Adult Open Class Holidays

August 20, 2012: Classes begin for Fall Semester
Labor Day Weekend: September 1-3, 2012, No Classes
Halloween Teacher In-service: October 31, 2012, No Classes
Thanksgiving Holiday: November 18 - 24, 2012, No Classes
Winter Holiday: December 24 - January 5, No Classes
Teacher In-service: January 7, 2013, No Classes
Spring Break: March 11 - 16, 2013, No Classes
Easter Holiday: March 29 - 30, 2013, No Classes
Academy Closes After Summer Intensive: July 29 - August 12, 2013, No Classes

Payment

All classes are $15. All class cards expire at the end of each month and there are no refunds for un-used classes. Please come to the Academy Office at 601 Preston at least 15 minutes before the class begins to pay.

Class Attire

Acceptable attire includes, but is not limited to: leotards and tights, t-shirts, and/or leggings. Please have your hair pulled away from your face. Jewelry is not acceptable. Ballet shoes must be worn in class.
