In this 3-hour workshop, PK-12th grade ELA teachers will learn how to use movement to help their students:
-Explore character, theme, plot and narrative arc
-Think and write critically
-Tap into their kinesthetic modality
-Create, collaborate and communicate!
Dance teachers will learn how to help their students add meaning to movement through exercises geared toward exploring character, plot and narrative arc.
This workshop culminates with an opportunity to explore dance and storytelling with the artists behind our brand new production of Romeo & Juliet. We will listen in as Stanton Welch discusses how he distilled Shakespeare's words to capture the story in movement. Ermanno Florio will give us context for Prokofiev's lush score, and Roberta Guidi di Bagno will talk about the choices she made to recreate Verona on stage and how she chose to dress the Montagues and Capulets.
Houston Ballet is TEA-certified. Workshop attendees are eligible for 3 hours of CPE credit.
