Adapted Dance at Houston Ballet Center for Dance
Houston Ballet is excited to partner with the Down Syndrome Association of Houston and Easter Seals of Greater Houston to offer Adapted Dance, a series of FREE dance classes for children with Down syndrome ages 5-12. Modeled on a successful program at Boston Ballet, Adapted Dance is a dance class that emphasizes strength, flexibility and balance while encouraging creative expression and teamwork. Classes will have live percussion accompaniment and be held at Houston Ballet's brand new Center for Dance downtown.
We will have a 6-week session in summer 2013. Classes meet on Saturdays from July 13th - August 17th. Classes meet from 10:30AM - 11:15AM. Please contact the Down Syndrome Association of Houston for class availability.
Classes will be held in the first floor Brown Studio at Houston Ballet Center for Dance, 601 Preston Street, Houston, TX, 77002.
For the trial classes, students should wear loose comfortable clothing that they can easily move in. For the full session, students should wear the following:
Girls: Sleeveless, scooped neck, solid colored tank-styled leotard, and black bike shorts. Hair pulled back neatly away from the face. No jewelry or skirts.
