CHERYNE BUSCH, INSTRUCTOR, lower school 

Cheryne Busch received her extensive training in South Africa in both the Royal Academy and Cechetti methods of ballet. She also studied character dance, classical Greek dance, and Spanish dance. As a performing arts graduate, she was the recipient of the Dancers Guild Scholarship to further enhance her choreographic and performing career.  She was awarded International Certification from the Royal Academy of Dance in London.  She choreographed a number of works for the Concours de Ballet in South Africa, many of which were included in their repetoire and are still performed today. She is also an accredited Dance Examiner on the Board of the National Society of Dance Teachers in South Africa. She performed professionally in South Africa before opening two of her own dance schools, which ran very successfully for many years. She immigrated with her family to Houston in February 1998 and joined the faculty of the Houston Ballet's Ben Stevenson Academy in that June. Since her arrival in the United States she has been commisioned by the music director of the Irwin Shlenker School to choreograph and produce the school musicals, worked as a dance instructor for the River School for Visual and Performing Arts, and coached the Maccabi Dance Team  to gold medal status in Atlanta, Baltimore and Houston. She choreographed a number of pieces for the Jewish Community Center Performances while serving on their faculty for four years. She is currently also a dance consultant at an HISD school. Ms. Busch is a principal instructor in the lower school of the Ben Stevenson Academy and is the principal character instructor in the main school.
