Sabrina lenzi, INSTRUCTOR, lower school 

Sabrina Lenzi was born in Rome, Italy.  She began her dance training at the age of nine with Walter Zappolini at the Opera of Rome.  She continued her training with Victor Livtinov and finished her ballet formation at the Academie de Dance Classique de Montecarlo with Marika Besobrasova. Throughout her career, Ms. Lenzi also studied under the guidance of Alex Ursuliak, Valentina Savina, Egon Madsen, David Howard, Tina Bernal, Desmond Kelly, Galina Samsova, and Misha Messerer.  In 1984, Ms. Lenzi joined the Stuttgart Ballet under the direction of Marcia Haydee and was promoted to soloist in 1989 and to principal in 1994.  During the her 11 years with Stuttgart Ballet, she danced all the leading roles in John Cranko's full-length ballets including: Tatiana and Olga in Eugene Onegin; Bianca in Taming of the Shrew; Juliet in Romeo and Juliet; Aurora in Marcia Haydee's Sleeping Beauty.  She also performed leading roles in Raymonda, Paquita, George Balanchine's Chaconne, Maurice Bejart's Gaitee Parisienne, Petrouscka and in Sir Kenneth MacMilliam's Song of the Earth and Brother and Sisters. Ms. Lenzi created roles in works by Hans van Manen (Shaker Loops), John Neumeier (Medea), Mats Ek (Wie Antigone), Renato Zanella (Empty Palce, Balck Angels, Mann in Shatten), Jiri Kylian (Stepping Stones) and the role of Isabella in the full elngth Edward II by David Bintley. In 1995, Ms. Lenzi joined the Birmingham Royal Ballet under the direction of David Bintley, as a principal.  Ms. Lenzi continued to expand her repertoire to include principal roles in the Galina Samsova/David Bintley production of Giselle; Sir Peter Wright's productions of Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Coppelia, and The Sleeping Beauty; Sir Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet and Elite Sincopation; Sir Frederick Ashton's Fille Mal Gardee, The Dream, Two Pigeons, Birthday Offering, and Walk in Paradise; George Balanchine's Mozartiniana, Theme and Variations, The Four Temperaments (Sanguinic), Orpheus (Eurydice); David Bintley's Far From the Madding Crowd, Arthur (Part I), Tombeaux, Dance House, Choros. Ms. Lenzi created the role of Desdemona in David Bintley's Shakespeare Suite, the Lover Girl in Carmina Burana, Volga Vouty in Nutcracker Sweeties, Summer in The Seasons, and Mary in the Protecting Veil.  She also created principal roles in James Kudelka's Le Baiser de la Fee and in Stanton Welch's Powder. Ms. Lenzi has made guest appearances with The Stuttgart Ballet and the Birmingham Royal Ballet in all major Opera Houses of the world, as well as guest solo appearances in Italy, England, and Germany.  In 2002, Ms. Lenzi retired from the stage after 18 years of professional dancing.  She pursued and completed her Pilates Teachers Training Program with Alan Herdman and has taught pilates at the Vitality Center and Alan Herdman Studio, both in London.  In 2004, Ms. Lenzi began teaching ballet and pilates at the Houston Ballet Ben Stevenson Academy.  During 2007, Ms. Lenzi taught at the Colorado Ballet Summer Intensive Program.
