Defining Moment:It wasn't until I won an apprenticeship and the Contemporary Dance Prize at the 2011 Prix de Lausanne that I realized joining Houston Ballet II was my defining moment.
Harper Watters was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Dover, New Hampshire where he began his dance training at the Portsmouth School of Ballet. To further his education, he auditioned and was accepted on scholarship to attend the Walnut Hill School for the Arts. He has attended both Washington Ballet and Houston Ballet Summer Intensives on full scholarship. Harper joined Houston Ballet II in 2009. With Houston Ballet II, Harper has danced principal and soloist roles in ballets such as Stanton Welch's "Fingerprints", "Blue", "Brigade "and "The Long and Winding Road" as well as performed in the world premiere of Ma Cong’s "Calling". He has toured with Houston Ballet II to Budapest, Hungary; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Lausanne, Switzerland and various stateside venues. In 2011 Watters placed 6th overall and received the contemporary dance award at the 2011 Prix de Lausanne.
