Description:
Houston Ballet, America's fourth largest ballet company, is looking for motivated, reliable, and skilled candidates who are able to work independently under tight deadlines.  Candidates should be detailed oriented as well as highly proficient in grammar, spelling, proofreading, and computer skills.   No arts or non-profit background needed.  Candidates should be able to work 20 hours per week. Hours will be flexible to work around class schedules. 

Houston Ballet intern responsibilities will include: preparing press kits; archiving press clips, programs, betas, VHSs, slides, photographs, and discs; media list updates; labeling and filing slides, photographs, and discs; creating Playbill layouts; preparing press releases and e-newsletter articles; updating historical documents including bios, company history, and press acclaim; updating and enriching Houston Ballet's website; keeping the press bulletin boards presentable; creating electronic databases; designing media invitations, assisting on photo shoots both in studio and on location, as well as general office duties including posting mail, filing, and general office organization.

Houston Ballet is offering an UNPAID internship.

PART-TIME TELEMARKETERS

Part-time job openings available immediately selling subscriptions and fundraising. Sales experience and telemarketing experience a plus but not essential. Training provided.

Three shifts available:      
Afternoons - 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday
Evenings - 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Monday - Friday
Saturdays - 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS

PRINCIPAL HORN

Auditions for Principal Horn in the Houston Ballet Orchestra will be scheduled for late-August, possibly August 30-31, 2010 at the Wortham Theater Center. The audition dates will be confirmed very shortly.

Houston Ballet Orchestra is paid on a per service basis. The current principal rate is $186.73 per service. The current minimum service guarantee is 116 services for a salary of $21.660. There is a 6% contribution to the American Federation of Musicians and Employers' Pension Plan. There are no health plan benefits.

Houston Ballet's performances span the period from late August through mid-June each season. Each residency is approximately 4-5 weeks. The Nutcracker runs 5-6 weeks. Houston Ballet alternates usage of the Wortham Theater Center with the other resident company, Houston Grand Opera (HGO). Many members of the ballet orchestra also play for the opera.

If the principal horn position is won by a current orchestra member only the resulting section position may be offered.

Audition Deposit Required

To be scheduled for the audition a deposit of $100.00 (checks only, made payable to "Houston Ballet" is required. Please make sure your correct address and phone number appear on the check and that "Orchestra Audition" is notated on the memo line. This audition deposit will be returned to you at the audition or destroyed (shredded) IF you cancel by August 16, 2010. Please mail your deposit to:
