MASTER CLASS SERIES

classical ballet and creative movement:
Grades 1-12

Dance classes taught by professional dancers from Houston Ballet can be scheduled through the Education and Outreach department.  Teaching artists preview the class and facilities and then return to teach a series of six master classes.  Elementary and middle school classes are kept to a minimum of 25 students. Students need no prior dance experience and classes can be taught in any available facility.

DANCE THROUGH THE DECADES: GRADES 4-12

1920s-1940s:  Charleston
1950s:  Jitterbug, Stroll
1960s:  Swim, Monkey, Twist
1970s:  Hustle, Latin Rhythms
1980s:  Waltz, Polka
1990s-Present Day:  Modern Variations of Past Dances

THE STUDIO SERIES AND ALEX ARIZPE

For schools attending a Studio Series Performance, Alex Arizpe is available to teach a series of 6 dance classes.  Students will learn about different cultural traditions, heritage, and history by exploring various dance forms.  They will also be introduced to dance vocabulary and the variety and music of the Studio Series' repertory.
