Wortham Theater Center is located in downtown Houston at 501 Texas Avenue, and spans two city blocks. The nearest cross streets are: Texas Avenue and Smith Street; and Prairie at Smith Street. Wortham Theater Center is located across the street from both the Alley Theatre and the Downtown Aquarium and is also across the street from Bayou Place.

Please Plan Ahead to Avoid Being Late to Your Performance

Please be aware that there is construction on I-10 near downtown, on the section of I-10 between I-45 and U.S. 59.  Customers who are traveling Eastbound towards downtown from Katy should consider taking an alternate route such as Memorial Drive or Allen Parkway to avoid traffic delays on I-10. Due to traffic you may need to find alternate routes to reach the Wortham Theater Center at 501 Texas Avenue than those listed below.

Driving Directions to Wortham Theater Center

• From I-10 West traveling East: Take the Smith exit. Turn right on Prairie Street. The garage is on your left.

• From I-10 East traveling west: Take I-10 West, exit 769B San Jacinto St/Main St. Take a slight right at Shea St, then left on Main St.  Turn right on Prairie St.  The garage will be on your left.

• From I-45 North traveling south: Exit McKinney (left exit). Turn left on Bagby. Turn right on Texas. The garage is on your left.

• From I-45 South traveling north: Exit Houston Ave./ Memorial Dr. Turn right on Rusk, then left on Bagby. Turn right on Texas Ave. The garage is on your left.

• From US-59 North traveling south: continue past the Convention Center. Take I-45 North/ Dallas exit. Exit Houston Avenue/ Memorial Drive. Turn right on Rusk, then left on Bagby. Turn right at Texas Avenue. The garage is on your left.

• From US-59 South traveling north: Take I-45 North. Exit Houston Avenue/ Memorial Drive. Turn right on Rusk, then turn left on Bagby. Turn right at Texas Ave. The garage is on your left.

• From Highway 290: Take 610 South to I-10 East. Travel east. Take the Smith Street exit. Turn right on Prairie Street. The garage is on your left.

• From Highway 225: Take 610 West to I-45 North. Exit Houston Avenue/ Memorial Drive. Turn right on Rusk, then left on Bagby. Turn right on Texas Avenue. The garage is on your left.

• From Memorial: Memorial Drive becomes Texas Ave. The garage is on your left.

• From Allen Parkway: Stay on Allen Parkway until you pass I-45. Turn left on Bagby. Turn right on Texas Ave. The garage is on your left.
